History - Moor Park Garage
Nipper Dicker (Gordon)
Moor Park Garage was founded in 1964 when Mr Gordon Dicker, or 'Nipper' (Nip) as he was affectionately known, moved to the current site from a smaller agricultural workshop at Small Lake.
The original workshop was a little smaller than at present (if you look closely when you come to the garage, you can still see the join where the new extension starts).
Nip was only allowed to sell motor fuel for the vehicles he was repairing. Which meant he was not supposed to sell motor fuel to the general public, but nip overcame this small problem. Every time a customer came to the garage requiring fuel he first had to carry out a repair, or provide a service. Nip either checked the oil, water levels or checked their tyre pressures, this kept Nip within his license.
